Volusia County’s city of Deltona belongs to Florida’s Fun Coast region. It’s also the largest city in the county and is the home Lyonia Preserve, a 350+ acre project that functions as the home of the city’s official (and endangered) bird the Florida Scrub Jay. Deltona’s residents come from a variety of backgrounds, leading to a richly diverse community. Interestingly, the name of the city is actually comes from a fusion of the names given to Daytona Beach and nearby DeLand.
